Widgets are a great way to make essential Actions faster to use. When you want to create Controller for HomeKit Widgets, there are two things you need to do.
- Create a configuration inside the app.
- Add a Widget to your Home Screen (or Notification Center on macOS) and select the configuration.
Creating a Configuration
Before you can use a Widget, you need to create a configuration in Controller for HomeKit.
- Select 'More' and then 'Widgets' in the main menu
- Add a Widget and give it a name
- Select the Widget
- Add Actions to the Widget
Adding Widgets
Before adding a Widget, make sure you've installed Controller for HomeKit and opened it at least once.

Stacking Widgets
Widgets are great, but they can quickly consume much space on your Home Screen.
Luckily, iOS allows you to stack multiple Widgets by dragging them on top of one another.
Mac
- Click on the time/date at the right end of your menubar.
- Click on "Edit Widgets".
- Select Controller from the list of widgets.
- Choose your preferred size and tap on the Widget preview to add it.
- Tap 'Done' on the right side of your screen.
- Right-click on the Widget and then select 'Edit ControllerForHomeKit'.
- Tap 'Choose'. You now get a list of all the Widgets you created in Controller for HomeKit.
- Select the Widget you want to use and click 'Done'.
You're Widget is now configured and ready to be used.
Widget Sizes
Widgets support a fixed number of Actions depending on their size. You can choose your preferred size when you add the Widget. When you have more Actions configured than the Widget can display, the extra Actions won't be visible.
- Small: 1 Action
- Medium: 4 Actions
- Large: 8 Actions
- Extra Large: 16 Actions (iPad only)
Widget Actions
Widgets currently support three kinds of actions.
