Introducing Hub Mode: Apple Home Automations as they should be.
We are proud to announce the release of Controller for HomeKit Version 7.4, featuring the groundbreaking Hub Mode. This innovative update transforms Workflows into powerful, automated processes that go far beyond standard Apple Home Automations. With advanced triggers such as webhooks or Shortcuts and new actions like delays, accessory state restoration, and notification sending, Hub Mode sets a new standard for smart home automation.
Highlights
Hub Mode: Transform an iPhone or iPad into a hub, allowing Workflows to run automatically instead of relying on manual execution.
New Triggers: Automate Workflows with triggers like webhooks (URLs), accessory state changes, or Shortcuts for seamless integration into your smart home.
More Actions: Take automation further with actions like delays, sending notifications, reading and restoring device states, interacting with external systems through HTTP requests or checking weather conditions (coming soon).
Stop Events: Define precise conditions to automatically terminate workflows for smarter control and efficiency.
Workflows Reimagined with Hub Mode
With Hub Mode, Workflows evolve into a cornerstone of advanced automation. Whether responding to real-time changes in your home, triggering workflows via webhooks, or running complex sequences of actions, the new features make workflows more flexible, intelligent, and customizable.
Combined with advanced triggers and stop events, workflows now effortlessly manage complex scenarios. For instance, if a window stays open for more than 15 minutes, a notification can be sent. Before turning off the lights, a 2-minute delay can ensure no additional motion is detected. Or, prior to activating garden irrigation, weather conditions can be verified (coming soon). The possibilities are endless empowering users to design automations that seamlessly adapt to their unique needs.
Whether you’re repurposing an old iPhone from a drawer or using our innovative Floor Plan on a wall-mounted iPad, any iPhone or iPad can become a hub with Hub Mode. Plus, our brand-new Apple TV app, specifically designed for Hub Mode, is launching soon. This app enables effortless Hub Mode activation on a dedicated Apple TV, which can be discreetly placed in a cabinet or hidden away, functioning just like any other smart home hub.
We believe that once users activate Hub Mode, it will become an indispensable part of their smart home setup. Even now, as a Lab feature, Workflows are solving many challenges that standard Apple Home Automations cannot address. And this is only the beginning—we are already working on additional triggers and actions that will make Hub Mode even more versatile.
Feedback from users is at the heart of what we do, and we are excited to continue evolving Hub Mode into the ultimate tool for Apple Home automation.
