Send Accessory Values in Notifications

Accessory values shown inside workflow notifications

With Controller for HomeKit you can include live accessory values in your notification text. This makes notifications far more useful because you immediately see the exact reading that triggered the workflow.

Start Event

Create a start event based on an accessory value. In this example, the workflow starts when a carbon dioxide threshold is exceeded.

Steps

Add the Step "Get Accessory State"

Read the current value from the accessory and store it in a variable. Rename the variable to a clear name so it is easier to reuse in later steps.

Add the Step "Send Notification"

Create a notification and include your variable in the message text by using the dollar-sign placeholder format.

When the workflow runs, Controller replaces the variable with the current accessory value automatically.

Final Overview

Once the threshold is reached, the workflow sends a notification that contains the live value. For fully automatic execution, keep Controller Hub enabled in Controller for HomeKit.
