In certain situations, you want immediate access to your camera’s live stream — for example, when a door is opened while nobody is home. Or when you’re using a simple switch as a doorbell and someone rings. With Controller for HomeKit, you can create custom notifications that trigger actions when opened. This allows you to launch the live camera feed instantly. It’s especially easy when the notification is part of a workflow combined with Hub Mode.
Start Event
First, add the desired start event to your workflow. In this example, we want to access the camera when someone presses the button at our front door, so we’ll add the single press as the trigger.
Steps
Add a "Notification" Step
Add a “Notification” step and enter a suitable title. Under “Actions,” select “Open View” and choose the appropriate camera. Use the star icon to set this action as the default, so it will be executed automatically when the notification is tapped.
Final Overview
As soon as someone presses the button, a notification is sent that opens the live camera feed immediately when tapped.
